Britain's most fashionable royal family members have been revealed, as well as the top ten most popular royal outfits; the results are not what we expected. E-commerce expert William Worship, from Vendula London, used google search data to reveal Kate Middleton as the most stylish royal. 

Top 5 Most Stylish Royals

The Princess of Wales has ranked the most stylish royal with 5000 monthly search results for the terms ‘style’, ‘fashion’, ‘dress’ and ‘outfit’ - more than any other royal. Shockingly the late Queen Elizabeth II ranked in 5th place with only 300 combined search results per month. 

The British royals have always set the bar high when it comes to fashion so it’s not surprising that they’ve become such style icons. The Princess of Wales is known for her show-stopping dresses, with three landing her in the top ten most popular royal outfits. It is, therefore, no surprise Kate receives 4,900 monthly searches for ‘Kate Middleton dress’.

Over 25 years after her death, Princess Diana is still a fashion icon with 2,420 searches per month; she maintains her title as the ‘People’s Princess’. In a close 3rd, Meghan Markle proves popular amongst royal fans for her classic and chic looks. The duchess receives 1,000 monthly searches for the term ‘Meghan Markle dress’.

As a surprise to many, Princess Beatrice receives 330 more searches per month than Queen Elizabeth II. Taking the bulk with 600 search results is ‘Princess Beatrice dress’, understandable as her recent affordable fashion choices have sold out within hours.

The results are in; here are the top ten ranked British royal fashion moments.

 

Royal Weddings

Royal weddings are known for their national popularity. During Harry and Meghan’s wedding in 2018, 33% of Brits said they felt more patriotic. There's no surprise that wedding dresses feature heavily in the top ten royal outfits.

Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress, over 10 years after her marriage to Prince William, remains the most searched royal outfit with 9,100 average monthly searches. Similarly,  Meghan Markle’s understated wedding dress by renowned British designer Clare Waight Keller is a timeless fashion favourite with 8,100  searches. 

Princess Beatrice made a statement in 2020 with her secret wedding service. The wedding dress, loaned by Queen Elizabeth, remains popular among royal fans. 

The Windsor sisters also feature for their wedding gowns. Margaret was commonly known as the more’ fashionable’ Windsor sister, so there is no surprise her wedding gown receives 300 more searches per month than Queen Elizabeth’s.

 

Royal Iconic Looks

The Duchess of Cambridge's platinum jubilee visit to Jamaica saw many showstopping looks. However, her bespoke yellow Roksanda’s Brigitte dress caught the public's eye, coming in 3rd. The Princess was later spotted re-wearing it at Wimbledon last summer.

Tied in 5th position are Diana's ‘revenge dress’ and Meghan’s ‘red dress’; these two looks broke ‘royal protocol’ with their plunging necklines.

Finally, Princess Charlotte walks in her mother’s fashion footsteps,  as the youngest royal to make the top ten list, with her flowery birthday dress receiving 700 searches per month.

 

If the past 70 years since Queen Elizabeth’s coronation have shown one thing, it’s that the Royal Family knows how to dress. With the royal coronation fast approaching, there is no doubt many Brits are excited to see the fashion showstoppers from Britain's most stylish royals.
